This group covers the mining of chemical and fertilizer minerals not elsewhere classified under groups 08911 to 08915, such as natural barium sulfate and carbonate (barite and witherite), natural borates, natural magnesium sulfate (kieserite), natural pigments (earth colours), fluorspar, bentonite, dolomite, magnesite, pyrophyllite, alum, diatomite, and other minerals primarily used as chemical materials. It also includes guano mining (fertilizer from bird or bat excrement), along with cleaning, separating, and sorting of these minerals.
